[As condensed/paraphrased from the book’s foreword.]
Our God, in His perfect wisdom, has given His children several covenants (binding agreements, compacts, contracts, or promises) throughout the Bible. A covenant relationship with God through Christ gives one a rock-solid surety of faith and hope. This work presents the seven main covenants, all of which reveal or speak of Jesus Christ. All the covenants lead the way for us to draw near unto our God. The first six (Old Testament) covenants do so by way of anticipation; the seventh in realization. The realization is, and is to be, of all that was hoped for in that anticipation.
All the covenants recorded in the Old Testament were preparatory to the New Covenant. Their typology and their promises would await their ultimate fulfillment in this world in the time of the New Testament. God’s seven covenants reveal that His plan is not a confused riddle left for us to struggle over, but it moves forward on discernable principles that can be readily understood. In knowing their meaning, we gain a sound foundation for understanding the Bible and the plan of redemption. This book diligently gathers and faithfully presents our Lord’s covenants for those who seek to know the word of God.
