Thankful people are happy people!

Posted on 11/20/2010 By  Pastor Jonathan Clark
A thought for the day:

For as the heavens are high above the earth,
So great is His mercy toward those who fear Him;
As far as the east is from the west,
So far has He removed our transgressions from us (Psalm103:11-12).

How high are the heavens above the earth? How far is the east from the west? I'm so thankful for God's infinite and abundant mercy and forgiveness! There are so many things to be thankful for during this Thanksgiving season. I challenge and encourage you--over the next days until Thanksgiving--to find at least one thing daily that you are thankful for and tell the Lord how grateful and thankful you are for that specific thing (you're certainly not limited to one per day). Thankful people are happy people!

Create in Me a Clean Heart

Posted on 11/3/2010 By  Pastor Jonathan Clark
"Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me."  (Psalm 51:10)

Every day, we go out into the world as a light. However, the world can "soil" us - like getting dirt all over you - just by being in it all day. The blood of Jesus washes and cleanses us every day - whether we are just "soiled" by the world or whether we are in need of repentance from sowing wild oats. (More about this on Sunday night).

You Were God's Idea

Posted on 10/28/2010 By  Pastor Jonathan Clark
You were God's idea. He designed you and planned you. As His children, He delights in you and rejoices over you (Isaiah 62:4-5). He thinks about you constantly. Just as we delight in the Lord and seek first His kingdom (Matt. 6:33), He delights in us and His kingdom is always seeking us.

Don't Fret

Posted on 10/22/2010 By  Pastor Jonathan Clark
“Do not fret - it only causes harm”  (Psalm 37:8b).

Fretting (worrying) causes problems. It wears us out. It makes us sick. Worst of all—it doesn’t solve the problem (it usually makes it worse). Rather than worry and fret, trust in the Lord and wait patiently for Him. Commit your way to the Lord—He’ll order your steps and take care of your problems.

Unplug

But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you."
                                                                                                                                             (Matthew 6:33)

We will be blessed and build God's kingdom as we seek first His plans and desires first in all that we do. In our hi-tech and fast paced world, it is easy to put other things before God - even things that are morally fine. Facebook, sports, clubs, academics, friends, even family - all good things. But if any of those things come before God, they can become a hindrance and distraction to us. Seek God first in all that you do!
