For as long as I can remember from my childhood, I always had the fear of becoming overweight. It’s because a lot of my family members carried extra weight stemming back from many different generations. What this fear caused me to do was to become concerned about how many grams of fat that the food had in it. If it said fat free, I was all about eating it. I was always in sports, so exercising always served as a good discipline for me. This cycle probably lasted all the way into my college years.

Kept is a military term picturing a sentry standing guard as protection against the enemy. We might think of it as a night watch guard that keeps thieves away from a company, or the Secret Service that keeps assassins away from the President.
