Pastor Jonathan & Christa Clark

Jonathan Clark grew up in the Springfield area and graduated from Republic High School. He has been a part of Abundant Life Covenant Church since the beginning of the ministry. He married his high school sweetheart, Christa, in 1984. A few years later, the couple moved to Columbia, Missouri, so that Jon could attend medical school. In 1992, they returned to Springfield where he completed his medical residency in family practice and then purchased a well-established clinic, which he still owns and operates today. Many people have been healed and blessed by his prescriptions of medicine, faith, and hope.

Jonathan has willingly lived as a servant to the ministry throughout his adult life, faithfully following the vision and pattern he saw in his spiritual father, A. Wilson Phillips. Ordained as an elder in 1988, he has led worship music, Men's Breakfast, small groups, and wherever else he was needed. In 2009, he was asked once again to walk deeper into service. He heeded the call and was ordained as an associate pastor. Pastor Clark now leads us into God's presence in worship and imparts wisdom and love to our youth by living Paul's declaration to "imitate me as I imitate Christ."

Christa grew up on a farm west of Republic, Missouri, in a loving, Christian home. She started attending services at Republic Assembly of God with life-long friend, Jonathan Clark, in high school and soon began to experience the transforming power of God's love. She has been a part of Abundant Life since its founding in 1983, and became an elder in 1988. She went to college at Missouri State University and married Jonathan during her sophomore year. After putting Jonathan through medical school, they returned to Springfield where she has had the privilege to be a stay-at-home mom, raising their three children.

Christa is a person who can be counted on to handle many projects and deadlines while keeping a positive attitude. The late A. Wilson Phillips relied on her for over 25 years in a variety of assignments including personal editor of his many publications and Publishing Editor of Present Truth Magazine. Today, she leads the Covenant Choir, teaching young people that while technical excellence is important, a surrendered heart in worship is the highest form of praise to God. She also serves with Pastor Clark equipping the next generation by leading the youth into the bright future God has for them.
